FeAr

What are you afraid of? If you say nothing, you probably are not being honest with yourself. We all have fears, some just more than others. Maybe you have an obvious fear of bugs or dogs? But that is not what I am talking about. I am talking about fear of rejection, failure, or death. Most of us have one or all of these fears, but we rarely do anything about them. The bigger question is why these fears manifest? I am no doctor, but I do know that past situations have a lot to do with it. With that being said, what should one do to overcome these fears? Do you seek the help of professionals or do you tackle it alone?

Healthier eating choices for us busy women!!! (taking from my stylist newsletter but very much appropriate for any busy woman)

When you’re busy running errands or moving from one customer to the next, it may seem difficult to incorporate healthier eating habits into your day. With just a few easy substitutes and ideas, you can slowly weave healthy foods into your diet and leave the not-so-good-for-you foods by the wayside.

Do you go out to eat for most of your lunches? Try substituting two of those lunches with lunches you make at home. Try making a healthy sandwich with 100 percent whole wheat bread, lots of veggies (tomatoes, spinach leaves, cucumbers, carrots) and low-fat or minimal mayo. If you leave out the cheese, you could save yourself up to 200 calories.

Don’t eat enough fruits or vegetables? Try adding one serving of fruits or vegetables to your day. Need ideas? Eat an apple, a banana, half a cup of carrots dipped in a dip of your choice or half a cucumber raw. Love pizza? Add veggies. Peppers, onions and tomatoes are an easy fix. Eat a lot of cereal? Slice bananas, berries, peaches or frozen fruits in your cereal. You can add the same items to yogurt, too.

Reaching for a tasty dessert? Reach for yogurt—a good source of calcium—instead of ice cream. Still need some kind of frozen treat? Try a fudge bar. They are close to half the calories per serving and contain only 1 percent of your daily fat intake, whereas a serving of ice cream contains 12 percent.

Quenching your thirst? Choose water or 100 percent fruit or vegetable juice instead of your regular soda. You’ll save hundreds of calories and cut your sugar intake greatly.

Eating on the go? When eating out, even most fast-food joints offer the option for a side salad instead of fries. This will help you incorporate vegetables into your diet and curb your sodium intake.

Trouble with portion control? If portion control is your problem, choose a salad plate instead of the full-size dinner plate whenever possible. This will help you to take smaller amounts of food even when your plate looks full.

Start small. Adding even one or two of these tips to your daily routine can help get you on the road to healthier eating. Bon appétit!

"What Woud You Tell Your 13-year-old Self?"

This was the question I read that compelled me to join Dove's Movement for Self-Esteem(http://www.dovemovement.com/vision). I heard about the campaign through one of the many Internet sites I browse, and decided to look into it. I have come across several different campaigns before, but none really caused me to think like this one. I have been doing a lot of thinking lately about my life anyway so this gave me a little direction. I have been thinking about the things that could have gone differently in my life, and what I could have done to change them. When I read that statement, I truly gave it a lot of thought. What would I tell myself if I could go back in the past????

I would probably warn myself about "boys" and how them can sometimes be conniving. I would tell myself that life is short but I should enjoy it to the fullest. That would include avoiding serious relationships or having kids until I have accomplished most of the things that really make me happy. I would encourage more traveling and less stress.

Since I remember my attitude when I was 13, I probably wouldn't have listened but I definitely wish I had the opportunity to try. So now I ask you.....What Woud You Tell Your 13-year-old Self?

There is nothing like the love you have for yourself. The love you receive from others is just a bonus :-)

If marriage is holy matrimony, why can government decide who can marry? Church & government are separate right?

Is There Really Anything Wrong With Submitting To Your Mate?

Before rolling your eyes and shaking your head, let's really give this some thought. This doesn't apply while in one of those temporary relationships where you don't know if you even like the person half the time. I'm talking about when you have found "the one". This is after knowing that person for at least six months and you know you would consider spending the rest of you life with them. If there little nuances aren't really that bad, and you feel you could live with them. This is not the person you are plotting to change or just happen to have a few things in common with.

Once you have found that person, what's wrong with having dinner prepared before he/she comes home from work? Or making sure the house is cleaned and the bath water is waiting. {This applies to men and women} We have become so selfabsorbed that we rarely do things for others unless we are going to receive something in return. Life could be so much simpler if we realized that it is always about us. I know I am not the only one who was taught that sometimes it's better to give than receive?

Wendy Williams just told me, (yes I said she told me! she's a friend in my head & we talk to one another! Don't judge me! ) Forever XXI refers all of their shoppers over size 12 to their section entitled: Expanded sizes! Wtf! expanded sizes! what kind of mess! My question for all my 'size sexy' chicas is: How do you feel about this? Is this supposed to be more flattering than plus size? Personally I think LL had the right idea- size sexy works for me:)
There's so much of the devil built in to keep our children from doing the right thing... An idle mind is the devils workshop. That's how 'good' kids get caught up being 'up-to-no-good'. What can we do to keep our kids' minds occupied?

How Do You Define Success?

Success is defined in the dictionary as "the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence". But what does success mean to you?! For some this may mean increased finances, but some of the richest people are miserable. So maybe there is some truth to "more money, more problems"? Money would help, but then what? Yes, you would be able to purchase temporary happiness. Yes, the people around you would appear to be happy. There still comes that moment when you have the things you want, but you realize that something is missing. Do you keep buying material items?
