Are you applying your powder correctly?
Making the right facial expressions when putting on makeup can help you get the best results.
Follow this guide
To Apply Powder
Use the Puffer Fish
“Fill your cheeks with as much air as you can,” says Potter. This will smooth out your wrinkles so the makeup doesn’t accumulate in them and exaggerate lines. When you relax your face, blend any excess product with a powder brush or puff.
To Apply Eye Shadow
Use the Snob
Look forward into the mirror and tilt your head back a bit so you can see your entire lid. This helps you apply color from the very base of the lashes to just above the crease. If your lids are crepey, raise your brow to stretch the skin so that the color doesn’t “skip” as you put it on.

Given this time of year, it's only right to post this :)
Happy shopping, and remember... a Glam Goddess Gift..is always a great gift:)

Shopping for that special lady in your life? While no two people are alike, there are probably some things you’ll want to skip.
By Amanda Geronikos, MoneyTalksNews.com
It should go without saying that the perfect gift isn’t the same for everyone: There are men hoping for cologne and women longing for power tools.
But that doesn’t stop us from having some fun and a contest around truly horrible gifts. Today’s post is about bad gifts for women – tomorrow it will be the boys’ turn.
Before you hit the check-out lane, check out this year’s list of the 15 worst gifts for women:
1. Any appliance she didn’t ask for
Unless she specifically asked for a waffle maker or blender, don’t buy her one. Even women who enjoy cooking don’t want to feel it’s expected.
2. Clothes
Clothes are a no-no for several reasons. There’s the size issue – if you get her something too big, she’ll probably be offended; if you get her something too small, she might feel bad about herself. There’s also the style issue.
If a wardrobe makeover is what she wants, make a nice card promising to take her on a shopping spree with your cash.
3. A framed picture of yourself
This “gift” is strangely common, based on personal experience and its presence on almost every “worst gifts” list out there. Nothing says you’re self-absorbed like a framed photo of yourself posing like a model. And the picture of yourself when you were 6 years old? That’s not cute either. Better idea? A picture of the two of you doing something memorable.
4. Anything that can’t be easily exchanged
If your significant other absolutely hates the expensive gift you bought her, be sure you can exchange it, for her sake and yours.
5. Diet or fitness products
Unless you’re looking for trouble, don’t buy her anything related to losing weight. The implication is that you’re not satisfied with her the way she is – definitely not your intended message.
6. Gifts for yourself
Buying her the new flat-screen TV you want and calling it a gift because she’ll use it too doesn’t work. Give her something she can appreciate and enjoy.
7. Tickets to sporting events
Your significant other might love baseball or football. But unless she’s a die-hard fan, skip the tickets to sports events. A better option: tickets to the ballet or a Broadway musical. Bonus points if you go with her; choose something you might not normally attend and she’ll appreciate it even more.
8. Tacky novelties
She’s not going to be as amused by that singing coffee cup as you were when you spotted it at the store. Unless there’s an inside joke behind the novelty gift and it’s in addition to a larger gift, this is a bad idea.
9. Perfume
If she asked for Elizabeth Arden’s newest fragrance, by all means, buy it. Otherwise, stay away from the perfume counter. She might hate the fragrance you choose, or worse – she might be allergic to it.
10. Cash
Remember the “Seinfeld” episode in which Jerry gave Elaine cash for Christmas? Elaine got mad, as will the lady in your life if you give her this thoughtless gift.
11. Cosmetics (including wrinkle cream)
It’s almost unbelievable that men buy women wrinkle cream as a gift. I once heard about a girl who received wrinkle cream from her boyfriend when she was 22! It’s also weird to buy a woman makeup. Just stay away from the cosmetics department.
12. Alcohol
A bottle of wine is nice for a housewarming party, but it’s not quite as classy when you give it to a woman as a holiday, birthday, or anniversary gift.
13. Flowers
Flowers are appropriate at certain times, but the holidays call for something more thoughtful and longer-lasting.
14. Last year’s gift
She loved the one-hour massage you bought her last year, but she’s expecting something different this year. Even if you have a hard time remembering the details of last year’s gift, chances are she hasn’t forgotten.
15. Candy
Many women love chocolate, but it’s just not a sufficient gift at the holidays. Use it as a stocking stuffer, and put some more thought into a larger gift she’ll appreciate.

Follow Your Dreams!
We all have an idea of what we want to do with our lives, but how often do we follow through. Yes, sometimes life gets in the way. But, how many times have we gotten in our own way? When considering most adults are married or have children, it may seem that these are perfectly good reasons why certain things haven't been accomplished. I say it is a crutch. You many have to work a little harder or spend less time doing recreational activities, but should those reasons really stop all of the wonderful goals you have for yourself. Just take a moment to consider how much better you could be for the ones you love if you also took the time to make yourself happy. So I ask you, why haven't you followed your dreams?

Why would a man need to marry you if he already gets all that he considers to be the benefits of marriage?
Why would a man need to marry you if he already gets all that he considers to be the benefits of marriage? How much is too much when you are just dating?

Warning!! The risks of dating/marrying me are greater than the benefits.
I've been thinking about relationships lately, and I am curious about a few things. So many people pride themselves in being a "Strong Black Woman", but who are you working so hard to convince? Wouldn't it make sense to work smarter, not harder? We, black women, have always felt the need to work harder. Why? Yes, we need to take the best possible care of our families. Yes, we should support our families financially. However, whats wrong with holding the men {and I use that term loosely} in our lives responsible? Now don't take that statement and run with it! I'm not talking child support. I want to know why more focus is not placed on grooming great wives, than just good baby mommas. Submitting to a man really isn't a bad idea if done for the right reasons. Do I enjoy cooking and cleaning? NO! However, I would become Martha Stewart for the right man. I know what I am capable of and I'm tired of proving myself to people who could really care less.

Advice for our girls!!!
What advice would you offer a young girl in an attempt to save her from having to learn something the hard way?
Friday, September 24, 2010
The children are our future....
More people need to realize children are our future..think about that for a minute. Do you fully understand the weight behind that statement? Not just your kids either, all the kids of today affect you and your family's tomorrow!

FeAr
What are you afraid of? If you say nothing, you probably are not being honest with yourself. We all have fears, some just more than others. Maybe you have an obvious fear of bugs or dogs? But that is not what I am talking about. I am talking about fear of rejection, failure, or death. Most of us have one or all of these fears, but we rarely do anything about them. The bigger question is why these fears manifest? I am no doctor, but I do know that past situations have a lot to do with it. With that being said, what should one do to overcome these fears? Do you seek the help of professionals or do you tackle it alone?

Healthier eating choices for us busy women!!! (taking from my stylist newsletter but very much appropriate for any busy woman)
When you’re busy running errands or moving from one customer to the next, it may seem difficult to incorporate healthier eating habits into your day. With just a few easy substitutes and ideas, you can slowly weave healthy foods into your diet and leave the not-so-good-for-you foods by the wayside.
Do you go out to eat for most of your lunches? Try substituting two of those lunches with lunches you make at home. Try making a healthy sandwich with 100 percent whole wheat bread, lots of veggies (tomatoes, spinach leaves, cucumbers, carrots) and low-fat or minimal mayo. If you leave out the cheese, you could save yourself up to 200 calories.
Don’t eat enough fruits or vegetables? Try adding one serving of fruits or vegetables to your day. Need ideas? Eat an apple, a banana, half a cup of carrots dipped in a dip of your choice or half a cucumber raw. Love pizza? Add veggies. Peppers, onions and tomatoes are an easy fix. Eat a lot of cereal? Slice bananas, berries, peaches or frozen fruits in your cereal. You can add the same items to yogurt, too.
Reaching for a tasty dessert? Reach for yogurt—a good source of calcium—instead of ice cream. Still need some kind of frozen treat? Try a fudge bar. They are close to half the calories per serving and contain only 1 percent of your daily fat intake, whereas a serving of ice cream contains 12 percent.
Quenching your thirst? Choose water or 100 percent fruit or vegetable juice instead of your regular soda. You’ll save hundreds of calories and cut your sugar intake greatly.
Eating on the go? When eating out, even most fast-food joints offer the option for a side salad instead of fries. This will help you incorporate vegetables into your diet and curb your sodium intake.
Trouble with portion control? If portion control is your problem, choose a salad plate instead of the full-size dinner plate whenever possible. This will help you to take smaller amounts of food even when your plate looks full.
Start small. Adding even one or two of these tips to your daily routine can help get you on the road to healthier eating. Bon appétit!

"What Woud You Tell Your 13-year-old Self?"
This was the question I read that compelled me to join Dove's Movement for Self-Esteem(http://www.dovemovement.com/vision). I heard about the campaign through one of the many Internet sites I browse, and decided to look into it. I have come across several different campaigns before, but none really caused me to think like this one. I have been doing a lot of thinking lately about my life anyway so this gave me a little direction. I have been thinking about the things that could have gone differently in my life, and what I could have done to change them. When I read that statement, I truly gave it a lot of thought. What would I tell myself if I could go back in the past????
I would probably warn myself about "boys" and how them can sometimes be conniving. I would tell myself that life is short but I should enjoy it to the fullest. That would include avoiding serious relationships or having kids until I have accomplished most of the things that really make me happy. I would encourage more traveling and less stress.
Since I remember my attitude when I was 13, I probably wouldn't have listened but I definitely wish I had the opportunity to try. So now I ask you.....What Woud You Tell Your 13-year-old Self?

Is There Really Anything Wrong With Submitting To Your Mate?
Before rolling your eyes and shaking your head, let's really give this some thought. This doesn't apply while in one of those temporary relationships where you don't know if you even like the person half the time. I'm talking about when you have found "the one". This is after knowing that person for at least six months and you know you would consider spending the rest of you life with them. If there little nuances aren't really that bad, and you feel you could live with them. This is not the person you are plotting to change or just happen to have a few things in common with.
Once you have found that person, what's wrong with having dinner prepared before he/she comes home from work? Or making sure the house is cleaned and the bath water is waiting. {This applies to men and women} We have become so selfabsorbed that we rarely do things for others unless we are going to receive something in return. Life could be so much simpler if we realized that it is always about us. I know I am not the only one who was taught that sometimes it's better to give than receive?

Wendy Williams just told me, (yes I said she told me! she's a friend in my head & we talk to one another! Don't judge me! ) Forever XXI refers all of their shoppers over size 12 to their section entitled: Expanded sizes! Wtf! expanded sizes! what kind of mess! My question for all my 'size sexy' chicas is: How do you feel about this? Is this supposed to be more flattering than plus size? Personally I think LL had the right idea- size sexy works for me:)

How Do You Define Success?
Success is defined in the dictionary as "the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence". But what does success mean to you?! For some this may mean increased finances, but some of the richest people are miserable. So maybe there is some truth to "more money, more problems"? Money would help, but then what? Yes, you would be able to purchase temporary happiness. Yes, the people around you would appear to be happy. There still comes that moment when you have the things you want, but you realize that something is missing. Do you keep buying material items?
